Mission of the Role:
The Accountant will be a critical team member within the organization reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. He /she will have extensive involvement in establishing accounting controls and policies to support the Company as it grows. The Accountant must have superior organization and communication skills, while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. He / she should possess excellent knowledge of accounting regulation and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
This individual will participate heavily in the month-end close process for Southern Air, working closely with the locations and Accounting Manger to ensure financial reporting integrity. This role will also provide support to the broader accounting team by assisting with audit assistance, system implementation testing, and other special project work as needed. The Accountant will also be highly involved in the year-end audit process for Southern Air by providing support as requested.
The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative and have the ability to work with limited supervision. The Accountant is responsible for executing the accounting and transactional functions for their specific Southern Air entities, while maintaining ownership of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts. This position collaborates closely with operational leadership, entity management, and the broader accounting team.
